It's Playoff Time!

Don't put away your gumbo pots and grills just yet folks. The New Orleans Gumbo Boys are in the playoffs. And unlike years before, they are in the driver's seat with a bye week and home field advantage. This is spankin' brand new territory for even us "Old Chin" fans. Through many a cold day in Tulane Stadium to the comforts of Dome Sweet Dome- this is a first time ever feat that is to be savored like a seafood gumbo that's been cookin' all day and bought at midnight in the French Market. This , may never happen again in many of our lifetimes (though I light my Holy candles and pray for that to not be so).

So, what's next for us loyal fans of the Black and Gold? We wait and let the wheels of destiny unfold. Who will win; Cowboys or Eagles? Who do you think is the lesser of two evils? Who do you think will enhance the chance for our beloved boys to advance to the NFL Championship game? The choices are not simple.

The Saints beat Philly- rather handily in fact- this season. The Eagles are probably chompin' at the bit for redemption. And, I know many of you. like me, have sat through the humiliation of those agonizing fourth quarter Eagle comebacks in the playoffs. "The Boys" (cough, hack) on the other hand, managed to hand the Saints their first lost of this season. After a first half of football that Dallas pretty much had their way, the Saints reached into their bag of jambalaya mix and started finding ingredients to win the game. Had the pigskin been allowed to fly around a bit longer, the games' results might have been different.

So, we wait, and plan our tailgate menus for full enjoyment to make the most of a playoff feast that comes along (unfortunately) all too seldom.

We wait, and cheer for which who-dat this weekend?
